The UV portable lamp sanitizer uses only light, not heat or ozone. This is important because ozone is harmful to humans!
The Tool Klean UV Sanitizing Lamp has been laboratory certified to kill mold, microtoxins, and 99.9% of the most difficult-to-kill bacteria (staph and salmonella) within 15 minutes. 253.7nm wavelength UVC light is also known to inactivate viruses.

Does the scratcher pad need to be replaced?
Yes, the sisal pad is replaceable. Replacement pads are available in our Accessories section. Most cats go through one pad every 6-12 months depending on usage.
