Great customer service!!!!

I bought this litter box cabinet, because I am just tired of looking at a litter box and having litter all over the floor! The cabinet was easy to put together solo with a little propping while installing the hinges. My only complaint is the color. I ordered the expresso, because the picture showed that as a dark brown! When it arrived, it looked black rather than the brown in the advertised picture. However, when I contacted customer service, they were quick to respond and address my issue to my satisfaction. The only thing that knocked down the stars was the color issue, because I REALLY need the advertised brown, so I will have to sand and paint to achieve that look!

GREAT IDEA!!!

It's easy to put together. I did have my son help me. I had to take a super small screw driver to clean out the holes because of the paint, this made it easier to put 2nd hinge on after that. THE one thing I didn't like was the screws on the henge strip easy. Would have been nice to have a few extra. The shock that holds the lid open. U have to take the screw out of it to put it on flat/correctly. Then reassemble it. We found this works well with the screws going in staight n flat. Definitely hand tight only. U can strip out the engineered wood. It strudy just don't push it around on the floor with the lid... push from the sides. And use appropriate furniture sliders on the feet/legs. As for the finish I like the black. But to protect the top I put a vinyl decal on the top. It also gives it a different look. U can definitely put ur own spin on it. Over all I love it. Keeps my large dogs out. And u wouldn't know there was a litter box in the living room...with the feline pine litter I use....no smell. Very nice... I hope this helps everyone. Thank u for reading my review.

Love it very unique !

I was looking for a litter box enclosure for about a month. I finally came across this one, I’m so happy I waited. I really didn’t want one with side doors, since I knew the litter would fall through the cracks. I wanted it completely enclosed. The lid opens up from the top, and I pull out the litter box, clean and vacuum. Super easy. I purchased motion sensory lights and cut a mat to the right size to fit inside. I received the product fairly quickly and was very pleased how well packaged it was. Super sturdy and well made. I did have a small chip on the lip of the furniture, I messaged the seller and they sent me a new piece. Great customer service and looks great in my house. Great litter box enclosure

Very nice appearance, opening top is awesome.

So far love it. Cats took to it right away. We have a massive SS litter pan which barely fits but it does! We lined the sides with pee pads because we have an older male that sometimes pees out of the box due to back issues. Less tracking on the floor because they have to walk in the box first. I had to look hard to find one that opens at the top. I didn't want to have to get on on floor and pull out a pan to mix and scoop. We use pretty litter so we move it around often to keep it fresh. Was able to put a small can in corner to collect the solid waste as that is all we have to scoop. Thinking about adding a cat bed to top with velcro to make a nice nap spot. Started with the top open for a day for them to adjust then closed and they have had no issues. Hope they keep liking it as I love having the box hidden. We recently had to put a litter box downstairs because of an aging cat with bladder issues and this is a godsend to keep it hidden. Not cheap but seems pretty sturdy. Nice details and I like the feet/legs. Very easy to assemble.

My new BFF.. love this more than words say

Love this. Very sturdy. Need two people to assemble. I struggled with latch for lid and had to get help from someone with better engineering skills than myself but worry not, he told me I was just stupid and the latch was not hard to install : ). I expect this to be with me forever. I don’t like cheap stuff and I was very impressed with the quality.I use a deep litter box so extra wall doesn’t fit but I find almost zero litter dragged outside of box. The lid stays open when cleaning as advertised.I needed a better option for the litter box and found the plastic domes ugly. I didn’t know these existed and am glad I kept looking. It doesn't look like a litter box, it looks like a pretty nice piece of furniture. Whoever wrote the instruction book had a sense of humor... it was an added bonus to get a laugh while assembling the thing.I recommend this to all of my friends and actually have had TWO of my girlfriends purchase this. My one friend hates cleaning her litter box and she bought this so you know her cats are not going to be happy because if youre an "out of sight out of mind" personality you'll never clean your litter box and that is her. That's why she bought this because she's hoping this thing will trap some of the smell her litter box emits. (UPDATE: I truly think her house smells less gross because of this new box. If she reads my review she's going to be hurt... Leeann I love you but you live like a pig!)

Sturdy and pretty easy to assemble

I received my box a day early, so that was a bonus! I assembled the box this morning by myself, and I'm 7 month pregnant (hubby already left for work when it arrived). Attaching the lid to the hinges was a bit challenging for a single person, but I was creative and pulled it off. Also, the hinge holes don't quite line up perfectly, but they are close enough to get the screws in. Hint: after installing the lid, don't let it hang wide open while gathering the stuff to attach the air-hinge...the tiny screws will start to pull out of the lid where the 3 smaller hinges attach (happened to me). After I attached the air-hinge, I re-tightened the screws for the small hinges and it's all better. The air-hinge now prevents the lid from opening too far. Once it's all assembled, it is very sturdy. I have a supersized cat box in it, but had to take the hood off because it was just about 2 inches taller than the inner dimensions. I also did not use the optional/removable inner divider panel. This enclosure's INNER dimensions are16 inches tall (top to bottom) x 27.5 inches long (side to side), x 22.75 inches wide (front to back). I felt I should include this because I saw a few reviews claiming that the inner dimensions were only 14 inches tall, and that's not accurate. I included pictures. Overall, it is a very nice piece of furniture that goes well with my living room, and I can sit on it without it creaking or moaning like it's about to break... I'm currently 157.8 lbs with my added baby weight. As there is no inner support that goes along the lid, I would use your best judgement on who you let sit on it.My cat has been inside and scratched around a bit, but has yet to use it. I don't anticipate any problems since he has already been in there and now knows his box has been relocated. And as for the folks that give a lower star rating because their cat doesn't like to go in the box, that is your cat's decision, not the fault of the product. Cats are lucky about their surroundings, and if it doesn't suit their liking, they will let you know by messing somewhere else.

Nice but be sure to measure

This is very nice but it does not fit a Tidy Cat Breeze litter system. Even if I take the hood off, I can't slide out the peepad tray. So disappointed but it's my own fault for not measuring exactly. It looked large enough to fit the Tidy Cat litterbox. I think it only fits standard litterboxes, other than that, it's a nice unit for anywhere in the home. Another note: if you put the back portion up against the wall, the top won't open clearly.

Ok but expensive for the price. Make sure you're handy...

So the product looks really nice, it's definitely stylish, I'll give it that. It's so expensive for what it is (though you really aren't going to find much better for less - unless you want to make it yourself). Obviously the product isn't solid wood, I just expected it to be a little less handy man special and a little better since it costs $160. Mine arrived with pilot holes and dowel holes missing. It happens I guess... granted when I'm paying $160, I would kind of like a little more quality control. The pieces still held together. However, I thought ok, it's not a long screw I'll just screw it in by hand - not thinking that this isn't real wood or even MDF etc, and so the piece totally split. Also, putting the hinges and the safety hinges on was a pain - the hinges were fine but the safety hinges were odd and then bc it's so flimsy the regular hinge ripped right out of the hole bc they give you these itty bitty screws (and it's not real wood...). So, I grabbed a block of wood I had and some other screws to fasten it back together. If the quality was just a smidge better and if putting it together didn't irritate me, I would say this is a decent product. But it's really not great for $160.... Fits an extra large litter box which is awesome and it's a great shape and style and I love that it opens from the top vs doors in the front - keeps the dogs out and helps keep some of the litter from being kicked out too. So love the design, style, color, just wisht was made a bit more solid where the hinges and screws go.

greatly reduces the litterbox mess

we had our litterbox in the corner of a room, and our 6-month old kitten would constantly swipe litter out of the box in his efforts to bury his waste.this product has greatly reduced the smell, the sound of the cat digging holes in the litterbox, and most importantly, the mess on the floor!!TRANSITIONING TO THE CATBOX1. showed the cat that we were lowering his litterbox into the catbox2. initially, did not install the lid hinge or the interior panel in the catbox, so the cat could sniff around and easily find his litterbox, and get used to the new environment with the top wide open (since he wasn't used to pooping inside a catbox yet).3. after he used the litterbox a few times without the interior panel, we put the panel in with the opening on the same side as the catbox door to prevent confusion while he got used to the panel4. after he was still able to find and use litterbox with the interior panel added, we flipped the panel opening to the opposite side to do the staggered entrance to prevent litter from being kicked aroundCLEANING THE CATBOXthe interior panel slides in and out of the box really easily, so i just lift it a few inches when i'm using a small dust pan to sweep everything out of the first entrance area. to clean the second part, i set the litterbox on top of the first entrance area and sweep there.the hinge closes really nicely and softly, but we haven't put the hinge back on yet because it's been easily to clean the litterbox with the box wide open. the one thing i would change around this product would be that the hinge could lock so the catbox can stay open without having to hold it.otherwise, this is worth the investment to us ! still some litter crumbs around the area, but NOWHERE near as close to before and much more manageable.

BEST Smell Control/Most Discrete box

We live in the city and space is at a premium. We first purchased this enclosure about 4 years ago and love love love it. It is the best solution we have found for our two cats (7lbs and 15lbs) by far. Here's why:1) Looks pretty good: Actually passes for a piece of furniture so long as the opening is turned away from clear view entering the home. In our case, matches most of our furniture.2) Wipes clean: In this case, press board with a veneer is a blessing. It is dark and can pass, but it ISN'T real wood either. Therefore, as easy to wipe off on the exterior as your usual IKEA fare.3) Can be easily modified to be even better: We sprayed down the entire interior with black silicone sealant to make it mess and "water" proof. Then we added a hook on the inside to hang the scoop. Now the inside can be wiped clean too and the scoop is hidden out of sight but ready to use. Makes good = GREAT.4) BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT REASON BY FAR - Secondary panel keeps the smell trapped: With the top only lid and secondary panel it really, really, really makes a giant difference in the smell. This is HUGE in a small space. I know some say this is uncomfortable for their cats, but mine got used to it immediately and seem to manage. I don't think they'd enjoy a different box with a no doubt different but basically equal issue better, and in our house the human's comfort comes first. How much of a difference this does for smell is incredible. I love this enclosure and can't be said enough - no other configuration we've tried (opens with doors like a cabinet, hole on the top, no secondary panel) has done the trick like this combination has done. In a single room space loft NO ONE can smell my litter. I recommended it to my sister too and she got the white one and feels the same. GREAT GREAT GREAT product. My husband and I routinely say this is the best purchase we have made.* Note, we also use higher quality, shredded pine (not pellet) litter that helps with the stink, but I know by what it is like opening the lid of this thing that 99.9% of the smell control is the enclosure itself.Sadly, this box broke in our last move, and now that I am getting another I am not even considering another style. I am being this same enclosure again and happy to do it. BEST value, look, clean-ability, and smell control.

Great Find for the Price

Putting the bench together was not too hard, but was easier with two people. I have to tighten the hinge every now and then because it gets a bit loose and the top falls on me while I'm cleaning the litterbox. I got this product so my dog would stay out of the little box. So far, it has kept my Boston Terrier out of the cat box. I also really like that it looks like a fancy bench, people have no idea where I keep my litterbox! It is a very sturdy bench, I can sit of top of it with no problems. I really like that it has a little compartment for the litter scoop and extra litter. My dog and cat like to sit on top the bench and look out the window, I think my next project will be making a little pillow for the top for them. In all it keeps the smell from the letterbox out of the rest of the house, keeps my dog out of the litterbox, and its extra seating, I just wish the hinge would stay tight.

I was a little disappointed in how small the inside was

I was a little disappointed in how small the inside was. I had a good size cat box, that I had to replace because it wouldn't fit and leave enough room for the cats to be able to move around. I was not able to put the center "divider" in the box because the cats would not have had any room. Because the box is smaller, my male cat kicks the litter out the sides of the actual litter box. He also pees over the side since he is used to a larger box. It works well other than having to clean up the litter and pee from behind the box every time I scoop it. I put a water resistant contact paper inside that makes clean up easy. Since I clean the box daily, I don't have issues with the urine ruining the contact paper. If you are going to not be cleaning it as often, I would use something more durable inside to protect the wood from over zealous peeing. I put a litter mat in between the box and the door and do not get any litter on the floor outside the product, which is AWESOME!!! I do have an issue that they were charging more for me to get it in brown, which is absolutely ludicrous. Now because I didn't want to spend the extra money to buy it in brown, since I had to pay for shipping too, it only matches ONE room in my house. I would recommend this item.

Don't make any mistakes putting this together...

The screws for the spring hinge should not be used, so be sure to use your own screws for that. The metal of those screws was so malleable that the head of a screw came right off while I was screwing it in, and it was not even nearly all the way screwed in (so no, I did not over-tighten it). I just got a few of my own screws that were a little shorter and harder metal, and screwed in the spring hinge directly into the wood without drilling new holes. Since it's particle board, screwing directly into the wood was easy. I simply lined it up right next to the pre-drilled holes and used that as the guide. One more thing you need to be careful of. As I was putting the legs onto the bottom, I accidentally started putting one of the legs on the wrong way. "No problem" I thought. "I will just unscrew it and put it on the opposite way". Nope. Screw would not come out of the metal thread that is embedded inside the leg. I tried many things to try and unscrew it. Finally I just pulled the leg out so the embedded metal threading was still on the screw, and because the threading was still too big to pull through the whole, I had to use a hack-saw to cut the screw head off. Then I used my own long screw and drilled through the bottom into the leg.So just be careful not to make one mistake while putting this together. The hardware they provide is cheap, malleable metal. And the particle board is easily breakable, so you can't be too rough with the wood as you are putting it together. It does looks nice. I will report back about how useful it is after the cat starts using it.

Great litter box and great piece of furniture

I love this chest. I have a cat who loves to dig and kick litter right out the the entryway in a typical litter box, was always such a mess and I'd have to vacuum every single time she did her business. I have 3 boxes in my house since there are 3 floors. 2 boxes are hidden from site so I just use a large tote that I converted into a litter box by making an 8x8 hole on the long side of the box about 8 inches from the ground so my cat will turn to the side when she steps in and kicks into the walls. Works great, I rarely have to vacuum anymore. That being said, I bought this product for my bedroom because there was really nowhere to put my diy litter box "out of sight" and I wanted something to go with my decor. This sits at the foot of my bed like a regular chest would and looks great. It's the first thing anyone sees when they walk by or in the room and no one even knows it's a litter box unless they actually see my cat use it. most of the kicking she does that goes out of the inner door is caught in the vestibule area, so very little litter gets on my carpet and it's easy enough to vacuum what's inside. I also recommend the large litter pan that nearly everyone else recommended, fits nearly perfect inside.I like that I could choose which side to put the entry on. The product was easy to install and the quality is worth the price. Finally, as a precaution after some other reviews about urine soaking the box, I line my box with an unscented puppy pad and change it out every couple weeks when I replace the litter. So far I haven't noticed any staining on the puppy pads, so I don't think there's any issue with my cat missing the box but I'm going to keep doing it anyway because I want this product to last.

Pleased overall

I bought this to hide the litter box in an area of the house that is heavily trafficked. It definitely does the job of hiding the box and the enclosure looks nice. Many people have told me they didn't realize it was a litter box. Compared to a standard litter box, it helps with litter tracking as well. I placed a mat on the outside as well as in the small chamber where the cats exit their box. Therefore, they need to step on two surfaces before hitting the floors and that's been a definite improvement!I would be even better if it came with a litter pan designed to fit the exact size of the enclosure. It's easy (and cheap) enough to buy a plastic litter pan in the pet store, but you do need to measure as some sizes will not fit. There are gaps around the sides which leave room for litter to get kicked out of the box. I use puppy training pads under the litter pan to keep the floor of the enclosure clean. Also, be sure to "show" your cats how to use the box. I helped them get used to walking in and out of the enclosure with the lid open before I took away their old box.Overall, it suits it's purpose and I'm happy with the product.

Amazing..should have bought sooner

This box is so great and looks REALLY nice. I am so so picky...so picky when it comes to quality vs cost. I need to be seriously impressed. This is worth the money. Very sturdy (although i wouldn’t use it for your husband to change light bulbs or something, maybe not that sturdy). Does not look cheap at all. Actually had a friend come over KNOWING that I had purchased a litter box hider for my bedroom and he had to ask me where it was, since it looked like such a great piece of furniture. The top that opens is so great with the stabilized arm. Again, sturdy. You can decide whether you want the middle insert in, which is nice. I put a kitty liner in there so it still collects some of the litter that sticks in the paws. It's a decent size. Not small by any means, and fits a full size box too. The only reason why i gave it 4 stars (see picky) is because i chose not to put the top decorative pieces on (looked a little too baby changing table for me) and I wish there was something they provided to put in the screw hole so it had a nicer looking finish. I think another buyer thought this too. Other than that, if you have a cat box, doesn’t matter WHERE you put it, this thing is AMAZING. Get a friend to help you put it together. I put it together myself and had to do a little maneuvering with a dining room chair to make sure it was all put together straight.
